It’s whats for breakfast.

Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day.

Before I fall asleep each night, my mind is always pondering what I’ll have for breakfast the next day. Admittedly, 99% of the time its the same thing…

Porridge!

I love porridge. It has so many health benefits and is wonderfully nutritious, delicious and warming for a chilly winter morning!

I prefer to cook my porridge in a pot, which I do on the weekends, however during the week I make it in the microwave at work. It does the trick, but is never quite the same.

I cook my oats in water and add a pinch of salt and a tablespoon or two of chia seeds. I’m currently on a chia seed kick! I buy them in bulk at New World and they are pretty good value for a superfood.

Sometimes I’ll add yogurt, and sometimes I’ll add banana. But always, always, I add my favourite ingredient of them all. It may well be my favourite food in the whole, wide world.

Peanut Butter!

Slightly strange, perhaps, and first discovered on the likes of Kath Eats and Carrots n Cake. It adds a heap of nutrition, keeps me full until lunchtime, and most importantly tastes delicious!

It melts into hot porridge, giving it a creamy, lip-licking, peanut flavour! Mm-mmm.

I’m making it my mission to try all the natural peanut butters on the market. Currently, I’m eating 100% Nutz. It’s pretty tasty, though I am partial to Pic’s – it is made in Nelson after all!

Breakfast is also always served with a giant mug of coffee. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

What’s your favourite breakfast?

  1. I did a porridge blog too yesterday! But no peanut butter! Sadly, (sadly, ‘cos I love it) I haven’t eaten peanut butter since my daughter was diagnosed with a serious allergy to it. But I do love porridge.

    • Porridge seems to making a comeback lately! Maybe you could try almond butter? It has a hefty price tag but is super delicious as an occasional splurge!

  2. Muesli is my porridge and I also love mixing up what I add to it. Weekends however are a totally different story. Then it’s french toast, cinnamon rolls, baked eggs courgette/zucchini fritters, pancakes. Weekend breakfasts have to be my favourite meal.
